Hosting FAQ's
- Will I have unlimited access to update my pages?

You have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. As such, you can create and
maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site
at your leisure.
- Will I be able to access my domain name with or without the
WWW?
-
Yes, you will be able to access the domain name with or without the WWW in front.
For example, you could access the domain name "mydomain.com" by going
to "www.mydomain.com" as well as "mydomain.com".
- Do you support MS FrontPage extensions?
-
We offer hosting with or without Front Page Extensions. There is no extra fee
for Front Page extensions installation.
- Do you offer web page design services?
-
Yes Sitespace offers web site design and application development as well as skin design for Mambo and Edit-x CMS.
- Is there a mininum contract with SiteSpace?
-
No we do not require a minimum contract. Most plans are month to month.
- What types of payment do you accept?
-
We accept Visa, Master Card, AMEX, and Pay Pal.
- Do you offer technical support to customers?
-
Yes. We encourage our customers to submit a support ticket with questions or
concerns about their web site.
- How long does it take to set up a new account?
-
Orders for domain name accounts will be configured within 24 hours, and most
times will be done the same day. Once an account is set up an activation notice
will be sent you via email including a userid, password, and FTP host-name.
You can begin uploading files to your new web site immediately. Domain account
users will be given a temporary URL to access their site via the web prior to
the completion of either domain registration or transfer.
- What is an auto-responder?

An auto-responder is an automated e-mail response that our server can be set
up to send to the address of someone e-mailing the auto-responder address. For
example, we could set up info@your-actual-domain.com as an auto-responder. Then
whenever someone requested information, the text file that you create and specify
will be e-mailed to the sender of the e-mail. This could be something as simple
as, "thank you for your e-mail we will get back to you in the next 24 hours."
Or you could send a 100 page informational packet.
- What is the nameserver information I should use when registering my domain?

- What is your policy on spamming or bulk email?

Spamming and bulk e-mail are not tolerated. Users that spam or bulk e-mail will
immediately be removed from the network.
- Do you offer SSH or Telnet access?

No, we do not offer Telnet and SSH access
at this time due to security reasons.
- Are any scripts banned on your servers?

Yes, the following are banned because of their high server usage and/or potential
for spammers: IRC egg drops Proxy servers Mail bombers Anonymous mailers IP
spoofers Port scanners nph-proxy UBB (Ultimate Bulletin Board, all versions)
Ikonboard, Yabb (all versions) lstmrge.cgi FormMail.cgi, FormMail.pl from Matt's
Script Archive are not allowed. Processor instead Greymatter (gm.cgi) Cgi/Perl
Content management systems Shell, SSH, Telnet Scripts and Shell, SSH, Telnet

- What are your web hosting Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy?
- Please refer to the Terms

- How often do your backup services run?

Accounts are backed up daily, weekly and monthly. Whilst we have not had a problem
with any of our backup systems in the past, it is worth noting that no guarantees
are made of any kind, either expressed or implied, as to the integrity of these
backups. Backups are made for server restoration purposes only. It is the client's
responsibility to maintain local copies of their web content any information.
The "Backup Manager" is included in each hosting plan and client can
use this tool to back up their files. If loss of data occurs due to an error
on our behalf, we will attempt to recover the date for no charge to the client.
If data loss occurs due to negligence of client in securing their account or
by an action of the client, we will attempt to recover the data from the most
recent archive for a small administration fee.
- What are my incoming and outgoing mail servers?

You can use "mail.yourdomain.com" for your incoming and outgoing mail.
Please be sure to check the box mail server requires authentication.
- Will I be able to send and receive e-mail through SiteSpace?
-
Yes! You will be able to send and receive e-mail through our servers. In technical
terms, we provide both POP3 and SMTP capabilities.
- How can I access the web mail without logging in to the control panel every
time?
-
You can access your web mail account by heading directly to "http://www.yourdomain.com/webmail/".
- How can I edit a MySQL database table without creating an application?
-
SiteSpace allows you to use phpMyAdmin to edit MySQL tables through the use
of SQL query language.

No SiteSpace will not place any adds on your web site.

Yes, every web hosting account has shared SSL (secure certificate) included
free of charge, enabling you to conduct secure transactions on your web site.
Please contact support to have shared SSL setup.

Yes you may run CGI scripts in your CGI bin. Please note, however,
that CGI scripts can be resource intensive and as such we recommend that you
look first to finding a PHP solution if one exists.
- Resellers FAQ's
- Is there a minimum time contract/commitment?

Not at all. You can pay monthly, quarterly, or yearly. You can also cancel at
any time.
- Do you support my customers?
-
No, we support you. You support your customers. In order to maintain anonymity
we never have contact with your customers directly. Of course, we will be glad
to help if one of your customers has a question you cannot answer for them, but
all direct support from us is to you.
- Will my customer be able to trace you as my host?
-
We try and stay as anonymous as possible. You will have anonymous nameservers
IE: name1.sitespace.com.com. Or you have the option for a monthly investment
of your own nameserver , so if your customer does a trace they will see only
your name.
- How does your reseller plan work?
-
When you become a SiteSpace reseller you can resell web space loaded with
superior features at whatever price you think is fair. Our pricing structure is
very competitive. Our reseller plan allows you to become a full web hosting
provider with minimal investment.
- How is billing handled?
-
We will bill you for all resold accounts monthly in advance. You will in turn
bill your clients accordingly.
- What are your server specifications?
-
Current servers 2.0 GHz Pentium III machines with 1.5 GB
of RAM and 300 Gb ATA drives in RAID 1.
- What types of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and Pay Pal.
- How do I transfer my site to SiteSpace Servers?
-
Step 1: Sign up with us just as if it was a new account.
Step 2: Within an 1 hours you will receive an email from us stating that your
account has been set up and issuing your an account number and information on
accessing your account.
Step 3: Transfer your content and test your site on our server with your IP
number. You use the IP number just like a domain name. For example, if we give
you an IP number of 208.65.128.94, you can put that number in a browser as
http://208.65.128.94/~username/ to see what your pages will look like on our
server. Detail instructions will be included in the sign up e-mail.
Step 4: Then e-mail a domain name transfer request to the appropriate registrar
company, the company that you initially registered your domain name through. Use
the SiteSpace nameservers that are on the signup form when transferring your
domain name.

- Do you have a secure certificate that I can use?

Yes, or you can use your own. Please contact us for more information about
secure certificates.
- What is the path to perl?

#!/usr/local/bin/perl The absolute path for CGI is: /home/username/public_html/cgi-bin
(the script you choose may require the use of a trailing /, please check the
installation instructions).
- What is the path to send mail?
-
/usr/sbin/sendmail.
- Where should I put CGI scripts for my domain?
-
All CGI scripts should be uploaded to the cgi-bin folder,located under the
public_html folder, for your domain. Be sure to follow the instructions for the
script you are uploading regarding setting permissions on the files and folders
you create, as they vary from script to script.
- Do the resold accounts come with it's own cgi-bin directory also?
-
Yes Each virtual domain is a fully featured hosting package and gets its own
directory and within that directory you have a separate cgi-bin directory for
that site's cgi programs.
